Festival guidelines
A clear working framework for original, safe and inclusive student percussion.
Who may enter
Jamaican school ensembles and approved youth groups may apply. A responsible teacher or adult coordinator must be identified for every group.
Music and instruments
- All styles of drumming and modern musical approaches are welcome.
- Entries may use buckets, pans, safe found objects, traditional drums, body percussion, voice and electronic elements.
- The performance should show meaningful student participation and an original arrangement or composition.
- Any borrowed material must be acknowledged.
Safety and respect
- Objects must be clean, stable and safe to strike or move.
- No sharp edges, glass, flames, hazardous substances or unsafe electrical setups.
- Performances must be suitable for a school and family audience.
- Groups must respect venue, backstage and timing instructions.
Selection and confirmation
Applications may be reviewed for readiness, originality, safety, available space and programme fit. Final performance duration, technical requirements, deadlines and judging details will be supplied in the confirmed festival brief.
